VCU Monroe Park Campus
Each Spring, the VCU Staff Senate sponsors an annual Walk-A-thon to raise funds for the Virginia’s Caring University Scholarship, an undergraduate award for juniors and seniors in financial need with a grade point average of 2.7 or better. Since beginning the program in 2005, the scholarship has helped approximately 88 undergraduate students continue their education and graduate from VCU by raising more than $77,000 cumulatively from the VCU and VCU Health System communities.
This year we will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Marquita Aguilar Scholarship Walk-A-thon! The Walk-A-thon will take place Thursday, April 10, 2014. All participants should meet on the VCU Monroe Park Campus at the Student Commons, located at 907 Floyd Avenue. Dr. Eric West, Associate Professor with VCU Recreational Sports and his associates will lead participants in a fun-filled warm-up and short work out on the Student Commons Plaza (in case of rain, warm-up will be held in the Student Commons, second floor, Richmond Salons). At 12:00 noon, special keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Rao, President of VCU will make remarks. Katherine Poarch, VCU Staff Senate President and Marquita Aguilar, Founder of the Virginia’s Caring University Scholarship and Walk-A-thon will be in attendance to welcome all participants.
All administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, retired faculty and community sponsors are invited to participate.
